Glasgow Road, Blanefield

We were engaged shortly after Adam and Abi had purchased their new house after deciding to move out of Glasgow for a better lifestyle and more time outdoors pursuing their hobbies.

The house sat on a generous plot with great views to the north and south, but the layout wasn’t working well, the kitchen was small and the house lacked bathrooms and bedrooms. The existing conservatory suffered from the common issues of overheating in the summer and cold and damp in the winter and the house generally needed a full cosmetic overhaul. This presented lots of opportunities for changes as no part of the house was off limits.

The design solution involved several changes made across different parts of the house. A new two-storey extension added guest accommodation and utility space on the ground floor and a new master suite on the upper level. This allowed the relocation of the kitchen and the addition of a new ground-floor bathroom to completely transform the layout of the house.

Rebuilding the conservatory to reduce the amount of glazing and improve insulation levels will transform this underused space to become a new living area at the heart of the house.

The new layout will create an improved flow around the house and social spaces, creating opportunities for Adam and Abi to host and entertain guests. The improved storage and utility spaces will make the house easier to live in and better suit their outdoor lifestyle. In addition to this, replacing the windows with triple-glazed energy efficient alternatives and installing a new heat pump will improve both the comfort and running costs across the property.
